KTM of Aspen/Rocky Mountain Racing Works is owned and operated by Michael Thuillier. Serving the Rocky Mountain region for over 20 years, Mike and his expert staff deliver top quality parts and service second to none.

Born and raised in Colorado, Mike started riding off-road motorcycles in 1970. That was just the beginning. From 1976 to 1985 he raced sports cars in the AutoCross and the SCCA Regionals and Nationals. Then 1981 started racing off-road m/c,s, enduro, mx, and desert. In 1990, Mike competed in the Camel Trophy—billed as the toughest off-road adventure in the world and sponsored by Range Rover—and finished as one of four finalists who were to compete in Siberia, USSR, that year.

Unfortunately, illness eliminated him from that U.S. team. Still, it was a good year because he was offered and accepted a support ride for Yamaha. Five years later he competed in the Baja 1000 with three other riders, and they finished third in class and twentieth overall for 1995. During those years his love of riding took him over most of the trails in Colorado, Arizona, California, Idaho, Mexico, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, and Utah.

More than just a rider, Mike is a mechanical technician and welder. Since 1977, he has worked on the Ferrari, Maserati, Porsche, Jaguar, Ford, Chevy, and all the latest motorcycles. Combining the joy of hitting the trail with the practical mechanical aspects of off-road riding, he developed a user-friendly suspension packages to replace stock suspension systems that are too firm for the cross-country trails.

Mikes favorite tip: Stock suspension systems allow for sudden (high speed) impacts that result in a very bouncy ride that may cause the rider to hang on too tightly on rough terrain. A more compliant suspension, on the other hand, permits the motorcycle to track straight and makes a smoother ride at faster speeds with less impact and fatigue to the rider. Among the suspension packages we offer our Timberline Suspension Package is designed for very rough and rocky mountain trails and exposed roots. This is an ideal package for this region of the country, where stock suspension falls short of the riders needs.
